I invite you to check out my new Album "Light".
The new collection "LIGHT", which consists of 9 full-length music compositions, reflects my ongoing fascination with the physical origin and nature of light. What is it? Where does it come from? How does it work? These are some of the questions that inspired me to create this Album. I dedicate it to all of you who still have that childhood sense of wonder and desire to explore intriguing physical phenomena in our universe!
I conceived each of the above 9 music compositions to echo a particular property or setting of light. For example, ETERNAL LIGHT expresses the seemingly ageless-forever quality of light in our universe. Will it ever disappear to give rise to total darkness? Hopefully not! In MYSTERIOUS LIGHT, the music dwells into this mysterious character of light for a good 8 minutes. This is just about the time it would take a beam of light to travel from the sun to us on earth. The Album then continues to explore the various facets of light until it reaches the shores of FUTURE LIGHT, where a spaceship prepares for a long voyage to the stars to witness the eventual creation of far-away yet-to-be-born light.
If you happened to like LAST VOYAGE I, SACRED TREE, and AWAKENING from my previous Album "The Last Voyage", I predict that you will love MYSTERIOUS LIGHT, MAGIC LIGHT, and FUTURE LIGHT. For those of you who prefer MILIANA, CAFE SCAMPI, DISCOVERY, and possibly ROKSA from the first Album, I recommend that you check out ETERNAL LIGHT, SOARING LIGHT, COSMIC LIGHT, WONDERFUL LIGHT, PRIMORDIAL LIGHT, and also SUNSET LIGHT.
In the new Album "LIGHT", I offer two new features that I am hoping you will enjoy. I use special sound effects to simulate the sound of comets and asteroids traveling across the night sky to crash on distant beaches and mountain sides in COSMIC LIGHT, the sound of birds and other exotic wild animals in PRIMORDIAL LIGHT, and the sound of ocean waves in SUNSET LIGHT. Compared to the previous Album "The Last Voyage", I also introduce the synthesized sound of "soaring" French horns and brass sections in MYSTERIOUS LIGHT, SOARING LIGHT, and FUTURE LIGHT.
The development of this second Album, which began sometime in 2004, has been a learning experience for me since it represents my first encounter with both the benefits and limitations of digital recording. While powerful, the digital format tends to generate countless new parameters and processes that make it difficult to achieve the desired result. The recording process can become particularly challenging if you are like me and do not have access to a professional recording studio.
While I was away on vacation to visit the family in July 2007, I had temporary access to the powerful Roland FANTOM X6 Workstation that my brother bought. I took advantage of this unique opportunity to learn just enough of some of its basic programming features to produce two new audio recordings for you to enjoy. These are EVENING AT SEA and MAGIC VOICES. The first composition, EVENING AT SEA, is the result of a special inspiration moment that I sometimes experience when I hear new high quality synthesizer sounds for the first time. I am sure many of you know the feeling. By contrast, MAGIC VOICES is a simple one-patch full choral rendition of the second and third movements of my 2006 composition MAGIC LIGHT from the upcoming Album "LIGHT". These two compositions, which were recorded after making adjustments to the preset sounds without editing the live take, are now available as free downloads.
