My name is Dale Harper. I am a singer /songwriter from southern West Virginia. I have spent most of my life playing country music and southern rock in Charleston WV and the surrounding areas.
I was born in Charleston, WV in 1966. My father, Delbert Harper (1935-1982), began teaching me to play guitar when I was eight years old. Unfortunately, when I was 15, my dad died of a heart attack. My mother lost all control over me. My life lacked any sense of direction and I fell victim to all the lusts and desires the world had to offer.
Fortunately for all of us, when we raise our children in the ways of the Lord, we have a promise (Proverbs - Chapter 22:6). I am so thankful for that promise, because my mother was able to see her baby boy (which she so affectionately called me) give his heart to Christ before cancer took her in '98.
In 1996, my wife and I gave our hearts to Christ at Winfield Baptist Church, Winfield, WV. I am now the praise and worship leader at this same church and cant imagine how I survived almost 30 years without Jesus in my life. We have two sons, Jeffrey (36) and Jacob (21). My life is good. My wife and kids are the air I breathe and they provide me with all the support I could ever ask for.
My band, The Highlanders, can be found around the Charleston area most weekends at one of the many of the family-friendly events available. We occasionally make our way down to Pigeon Forge TN as well.
