Create to Destroy
This five piece are out for mass destruction and total demise. Drain-Life, hail from Rotterdam, Netherlands and were formed late 1996, early 1997. Around that time they started out as a band with influences from bands like Madball, Sick Of It All and the stream of Metalcore bands at that period of time like: All Out War, Merauder, Morning Again, Arkangel and many more. Lyricly everything comes off vocalist York's hands and ranges from personal issues, inner struggles and depression to world problematic issues, warfare, poverty and oppression... in the end, it all comes down to the truth in life, and the many struggles it brings, till it ultimately leads to death. Due to various struggles with bandmembers coming and going, it never really came of the ground. Untill 2003, when Drummer Joël joined remaining members York and Jon and made it a determined trio ready for war... and a war it is; sharing de stage with Merauder, Sworn Enemy, 100 Demons, Kickback, Born From Pain, Shattered Realm, Buldoze, Terror to name a few but the struggles in the band where far from over...bassplayers and 2nd guitar players came and went Drain-Life never stopped writing material! then when long time friend Martin from Joëls old band Neurotic joined them on bass and Brasillian guitarplayer Tiago joined them on guitar, they have their five men mosh army once again... and after a decade, a dozen Tapes, a Demo CD, a Mini CD later they signed to CFC Records and released their full length 'A Prospect of Despair' Through the many years they grew from a Hardcore band with Metal influences into a Metalcore band with brutal Death / Thrash Metal riffs, midd tempo Metalcore beatdowns and triplets, phat mosh parts and Hardcore breakdowns. Nowadays you can even find influences from early Death Metal, Norwegian Black Metal from the 90s, the Bay Area Thrash from the 80s and the New Wave of American Metal sound of today. but they always maintained that Hardcore edge Through dedication and determination they survived it all and their explosive and professional live performances is proof of just that Being in the game for more than thirteen years, made them the hardest and longest running band in the Rotterdam area, and that reputation made them last countless shows everywhere, they are now maybe more motivated than ever to write better songs, greater records and doing even more shows.
Band/artist history
we started out as a Hardcore band in '97 but our sound changed to more metal in '98 because we started listening to bands like All Out War and Arkangel...that was a tight era...and now we play even more metal, we don't even listen to hardcore anymore really...yeah sure the old stuff y 'know... we know a lot of hardcore bands on a personal level and it's always great playing with those guys.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
sure...we play whenever en wherever we can, as long as we are treated with hospitality y' know... every show has its special moments...for me it's being with my homies 'on' and 'off' stage, and offcorse good responses are always great!

We will always try to stay fucussed and ignore the rumours brought on by groupies and internet fags, we don't give a fuck and we do our thing...we don't care if your Emo or Metal, aTuff guy or a Straight edge kid or even a gothic. If you like us thats cool. We play for anyone and everything hahaha and if you cool, we cool... peace and horns up!
