A band with no single influence, Methmare Motorcade has been in the works for the past four years. Ever since its conception, Methmare Motorcade has been working hard to perfect its musical style.
The band consists of five members. They are as follows:
X - Vocals
Rick Charles - Lead Guitar
Gizmo De La Cruz - Rhythm Guitar
Fred Puente - Bass
Adrian Varela - Drums
In the summer of 2000, four guys got together to form a band called silver-pennies. Rick Charles (lead guitar) and Adrian Varela (Drums) met while rehearsing for a talent show at their local high school. Eventually the two would create a permanent band with Freddy Puente (Bass) and Xavier Reyes (Vocals). Thus silver-pennies were born. Taking influence from such bands as Dogwood, Silverchair, Metallica, and Pennywise, silver-pennies materialized as a hard-punk band.
Through the years, silver-pennies advancement was put on hold due to creative differences among the band. As time passed, the band realized that changes were needed to keep the spark alive. With the departure of Xavier, and the addition of Gizmo De La Cruz on rhythm guitar, silver-pennies began a new era, with a new sound all their own. Finding a new singer would prove an arduous task for the newly revamped silver-pennies.
After several months of searching for a singer, the pennies had become dispirited with their results. It wasnt until a twist of fate brought X into the mix. X had been playing in a local band called 9five6 for several years. At one of their shows, X began talking to Rick about the band. Rick invited him to see his band practice, with little or no intent of recruiting X. As fate would have it, X was amazed with the talent and ability of this youthful band. He immediately knew that this was where he belonged.
The band has played several shows. Some local underground gigs first, then a spot on the South Texas Scorcher which got rained out. To make up that show, they recently played at Graham Central Station in Pharr, Texas. At that show they opened up for Unloco.
The band itself has no musical influence. Each member has their own style and their own favorite band. Some that come to mind are Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Guns N' Roses, Weezer, Dogwood, Metallica, and Nirvana. These bands were what we grew up listening to. They in no way reflect how we aspire to sound.
Audix, Crate, Peavey, ESP LTD, Epiphone, Pearl!, and Zildjian
The members of Methmare Motorcade each adhere to their own musical influences and bring all they know together to create music in its purest form. Emotion, expression, and artistry are all key factors to the creation of Methmare Motorcade. In truth, five guys who simply love to play. Music is their Religion.
