Sound effects provided by my homemade brass "clang", my homemade African Slit Drum, and my solid oak Gunlocke office chair (1953) with the squeaky spring tilt mechanism.
Hadn't done any home recording since the days of sitting in my squeaky chair with a 4-track cassette deck. The 4-track's no longer practical... or operational for that matter... but the chair still is and so's my digital recorder.
There’s a clock on my wall
Takin’ all my time.
‘nother hair skips out
Ain’t no longer mine..
Gonna while away my cares.
Close my door and go nowhere.
Pluck my strings while I sit there,
Leanin’ back in my squeaky chair.
See, me and my boys
We get together sometimes.
Play with all o’ my toys
Yeah, we have a good time.
When the dinner bell ring
We hurry up them stairs.
Mamma cookin’ up somethin’
Grow my boys’ chest hairs.
And I lean back in my squeaky chair
Gonna while away my cares
Pluck my strings while I sit there
Leanin’ back in my squeaky chair.
Don’t go messin’ with me and mine.
Don’t go wastin’ all my time.
Don’t tell me that it ain’t fair
While I sit back in my squeaky chair.
I got blisters on my toes.
‘nother hair now there it goes
Sun and moon they just don’t care
While I’m sittin’ in my chair.
That clock on my wall
Tick away my time.
‘nother hair skip out
Ain’t no longer mine.
While away my cares
Pullin’ out my hairs
Tick away the time
In the squeaky chair.
