Story behind the song
I hit upon this idea and inspiration after visiting friends' remote cottage, accessible only by boat. I used software to clean up the wolf howls and pitch shift them into tune. Although a number of songs have previously used wolf howls as a sound effect, I can find none that have ever used them in this harmonious fashion as a serious part of the vocal track.
Lyrics
For miles around not single car or town
Mountain streams and evergreens abound
Just a place where I can find Some true peace of mind
And in the darkness I breath a sigh and offer to the night sky
A wilderness cry...
Desert sand or the skies of the prairie land
True creation molded by a higher hand
I'm just a lone voice calling out in vain
In the wind and the rain
And in the darkness I breath a sigh and offer to the night sky
A wilderness cry...
