Story behind the song
After the death of Tom Searle - the guitarist of Architects (UK prog metalcore band) we couldn't hold it in any longer. This song is the expression of frustrations about the jobs and relationships that I was in against my own will. Just because 'the society' forces us to do something doesn't mean you have to be trapped. This is the turning point in our career - now everything revolves around the band - I Plead Guilty.
Lyrics
I'm growing old, just to do what I'm told I'm losing myself for the benefit of somebody else I said a thousand f*ing times that I need to change this My last chance will be gone, and my youth will be wasted Wake up, and focus on here and now It's just about the time to take control of your life Face it, there is no purpose in life Unless you know what you want and make it clearly defined Yesterday, all for the sake of nothing, You wasted away screaming at these empty walls... Four white walls. Save yourself! Once again I'm paralyzed I'm stuck in this hopeless state, I can't define I'm suffocating, drowning in hatred I'm killing my soul, can somebody help me? Wake up, and focus on here and now It's just about the time to take control of your life Face it, there is no purpose in life Unless you know what you want and make it clearly defined Yesterday, all for the sake of nothing, You wasted away screaming at these empty walls... Four white walls. Yesterday, all for the sake of nothing, You wasted away screaming at these empty walls... Four white walls. It's so easy to become the victim It's so easy to get lost in the crowd All the 'could have been-s', all the 'could have done-s' All the 'could have had-s', it all means nothing now They all mean nothing now What would your children say about their father? And how'd you keep them proud, when you're forever gone? What was your dear life all about? Is this the legacy you leave behind? Save yourself!
