I heard someone use the phrase I got you covered and immediately thought about a song concept that God had us covered with His love and mercy from the very beginning of time through to the end times; from Genesis through Our Lords death on the cross
The idea of the first verse centers around the fact that in the beginning, God’s love was incomplete in a sense until he created mankind and at that point in time, the Holy Spirit was hovering above the shapeless Earth anticipating His role in covering us and living in communion with us. In verse two, the inconceivably vast abyss of God’s mercy is on display for all as Jesus hangs on the cross. When the lance pierces His side, He covers us with the merciful windfall of His Blood and Water, consecrating us all to His Mercy. Verse three takes us to Revelation and the end times where love and mercy abounds everywhere. All who are there singing praises along with the angels and the saints can say, I have been made new, and am covered for eternity with His love and mercy.
I’ve Got You Covered
1st verse
My love was without form or shape
Hollow & empty, desolate & bleak
Veiled in romance, incomplete
I chose you when I chose to create
Chorus 1
Come out of your darkness, rise up, rejoice
I thirst for your salvation Come and hear My voice!
You are My offspring, I am your Savior
Delight in me the Mighty Wind has you covered
2nd verse
My mercy was shaped on the cross
Faithful, righteous, displayed for all
Cloaked in mystique, mercies windfall
My lance pierced side gladly paid the cost
Chorus 2
Come out of your darkness, rise up, rejoice
I thirst for your salvation Come hear My voice!
I will forgive you as I Am your lover
Torrents of My Blood and Water shall have you covered
3rd verse
Love and mercy abounds above
With heavens great cloud of witnesses,
Resurrected from dark recesses,
Transfigured to My beloved
Chorus 3
Come out of your darkness, rise up, rejoice
I thirst for your salvation Come and hear My voice!
I am trustworthy, I will make all things new
In the beginning through the Great Amen
Now and forever I’ve got you covered
Outro
I’ve got you covered
Now and forever I’ve got you covered
