forty-five years ago
where wildflowers grew.
two lovers took their vows,
knelt down on nature's pew.
they had as their witnesses
all the sights, the smells and sounds
of life's wondrous creations.
gathered all around.

thirty some odd years from then
their love and family grew.
each moment when they could
they'd spend that time anew.
each day a new adventure,
some exciting, some rather plain.
yet neither lost an interest
in life, in love, the game.

with games there's always plenty
stops and goes and turn around.
rules to help too hinder.
to bring you up or bring you down.

eighty some odd years have gone
everything's in place.
health, and hearth and home
kept up with the race.
the game of life has changed a bit
but still we're set too roll.
the dice of our existence.
we'll toss now and then we'll go
