Story behind the song
This a here cut ain't nothin' but a tribute to the mighty, mighty Diamond Dave! In honor of his triumphant return to the stage at The House Of Blues in Las Vegas on Elvis' birthday, let's send up an ol' blues tune David Lee Roth vetted up in 1991 ! Talkin' some sensible shoes, baby ! Great review of David Lee Roth's 2nd and 3rd shows in Las Vegas: https://www.vhnd.com/2020/01/16/david-lee-roths-2nd-3rd-vegas-shows-reviewed/?fbclid=IwAR2gwnmW2wayz5vB-h_jCONLVV_Q3YCQ9fRXK-6pOt-6TH11jSJB9pBbLvQ https://davidleeroth.com/ Everyone should be thankful and grateful that Diamond Dave is back in circulation. It is an honor to see him live and to witness his storytelling and stagecraft. Elvis fans loved seeing The King in the 50's , 60's, and 70's. The level of disrespect, the whining, and the amount of word barf is sickening. DLR has provided the universe the most amazing soundtrack and wrote the book on living in America....living large...so large you need a barge, Marge! I saw an ol' bluesman at a local roadhouse back in the 90's. He was in his 90's. He was a bawdy barrelhouse boogie woogie piano player who had recorded with Elmore James. Even though he was way past his prime, he still would play the blues with fire, drink a beer, smoke a cigar, and flirt with beautiful women. Sure, I would have liked to have seen him in his prime, but to be at his shows in the winter years of his career was a blessing and an honor. I raise my glass and salute the mighty, mighty Diamond Dave! And to all the haters I says....we had a meeting....you wudn't there....and what we decided was....FUCK YOU,....FUCK YOU FOR REAL!! Sho' 'Nuff ! THIS WEEK'S HIT !!! If you play more than two chords you're showing off - Woody Guthrie GOOFER WHATEVAH AILS YUH !!! "Can you play B.B. King?" "Yeah, if you put some strings on him, I'll play him" - Yank Rachell, Blues Mandolin Man THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' 'BOUT NAH NAH YEA-AH !!! Hell is full of musical amateurs - George Bernard Shaw WELL WELL WELL............. YEZ YEZ YEZ............. Says I love you woman, love your husband too. Have to love your husband to get to be wit you - Charley Jordan, Hunkie Tunk Blues Wen he gets (up) in de mornin' he feels bad, and wen (he) goes to bed at night he feels wusser. He tinks dat his body is made ob ice cream, all 'cept his heart, and dat - dat's a piece ob lead in de middle. All sorts ob sights are hubbering around, and red monkeys is buzzing about his ears... (D)em's what I calls de bloos - Sam Jonsing, in an 1839 New Orleans newspaper
