I had some friends who were having troubles in their inter-personal relationships, and was trying to mediate a solution and promote reconciliation between them. At the time, I was also reading a book entitled The Tao of Healing. I was due to go into the recording studio with Mike the next day, and the evening before I called to tell him I had this sort of Spanish-sounding melody in mind for an instrumental piece. But before the end of the night, the lyrics just came to me, insprired by the book and the experience I was going through, and so when I showed up at the studio Mike was dismayed that I had a song instead of an instrumental, cause he had gone out that day and bought a classical guitar thinking it would be perfect for the tune I had described to him. Well, I said, make it into as much of an instrumental as you want, and just run with it, and I'll sing my song over it. It's been well received. A quilter named Gloria Klutzky made a lovely quilt to go with the song for the first Sparks Across the Arts exhibit in Lafayette, IN in 2002.
