Story behind the song
It was just a song I co-wrote with my brother and a friend.

He was walking down a sidewalk,
Past a church called “Sacred Hope”;
When a sound caught his attention,
Of some children skippin’ rope.
The distant voice of a little girl
Whose chant was loud and clear,
Made it hard not to take notice
Of it’s message in his ear.
Rapping to the skippin’ of her rope, she said
“I gotta new daddy
And I guess he’s ok;
Mama must love him
‘Cause they married today.
Mama told PaPa
Stay the heck away...
He won’t get to see me
‘Til some money’s sent her way!”
PaPa, I’m beggin’ you,
To help me understand.
Why do I hurt
When you let go of my hand?
I promise to Love you,
Till I see you again-
PaPa I’ll be lovin’ you ...
Till the end.
He found his pillow with his fist,
Frustration made him mad;
It was just that same recurring dream,
Where he’s called a “dead-beat” dad.
When his company had downsized,
Some payments had been missed;
Then his ex-wife moved so far away,
Now he missed his daughter’s kiss.
Life went on
And the years flew by;
Working overtime
Kept him on the fly.
He rarely saw his girl
So they grew apart;
But she rushed to his side
When she heard of his failing heart-
And now he’s gone ...
But in his final moments
He once more heard the
Distant voice ...
Of his little girl.
Papa, I’m beggin’ you,
To help me understand.
Why do I hurt
When you let go of my hand?
I promise to Love you,
Till I see you again-
PaPa I’ll be lovin’ you,
Till the end.
