Story behind the song
I wrote this song out of emotions and love I have for my dad and to tell the story of the beautiful father-daughter relationship we have and that I now see forming between my husband and my own daughter.

(verse 1)
When I was growing up
Daddy was my hero
There was not a thing
That he couldn’t do
He gave me a life
Any girl would wish for
Taught me right from wrong
And to always be true
Remember all the times
That we spent together
I could make him smile
And he was my world
Wherever we would go
They’d say “she looks just like him”
Walking hand in hand
I’m Daddy’s Little Girl
(chorus)
Whatever happened to dads and daughters?
Back when girls used to respect their fathers
We’ll always be your little girls, don’t you know
So Daddies please come back and be our heroes
(verse 2)
As the years went by
Dad became my mentor
We’d sit and talk for hours
My future looked so bright
He told me I could have
Anything I wanted
If I worked hard enough
And planned my life out right
Somewhere down the line
My plans started changing
Now what I value most is
Worth more than gold or pearls
Now Daddy turns away
To hide his disappointment
‘Cause nothing’s good enough
For Daddy’s Little Girl
(chorus)
Whatever happened to dads and daughters?
Back when girls used to respect their fathers
I’ll always be Your Little Girl, don’t you know
So Daddy please come back and Be My Hero
(verse 3)
I am married now
And we have a daughter
They are just as close
As me and my dad were
When she looks at him
Her eyes reveal true love
His heart starts to burst
When he looks at her
I just hope and pray
She will always listen
To what he has to say
But still lets her dreams swirl
And she’ll follow her heart
Experience a full life
But always remember
She’s Daddy’s Little Girl
(chorus)
Whatever happened to dads and daughters?
Back when girls used to respect their fathers
We’ll always be your little girls, don’t you know
So Daddies please come back and be our heroes
(ending)
Now I’m all grown up
Daddy’s still my hero
What I value most is
More than gold or pearls
Wherever we now go
They say “she looks just like him”
Walking hand in hand
I'm Daddy’s Little Girl
