This Song is my first production I made on the computer with kind of a commercial value. I reproduced it for the purpose of a songwriting assignment by choosing and editing new sounds and programming an orchestra part for the beginning and the end.
For the purpose of the Songwriting Assignment I decided to remix and remaster one of the first productions that I made my piece "Never Ending Story". In the beginning of this process I thought that I would record all the vocals again and make the production completely different, but in the end I decided to use the old recordings on the one hand because I was running out of time, but on the other hand because I really liked the vocals that I recorded with Romina Aste a couple of years ago and as she was not around I would not have been able to record her again.
The main thing I had to do for this production was choosing and editing new instruments, because in the first production I used my external Yamaha Synthesizer, which I had to leave back in Germany. I also spent a bit of an effort to get the whole piece louder than it was before using the new tricks I learned and which I did not know as I produced it the first time.
Another main thing that I did for the production was writing and arranging an Orchestra part for the beginning and the end of the song. For this purpose I had to split the projects in two in order to get rid of the CPU overload problems. The Orchestra arrangement was made out of 27 MIDI tracks, by programming manny different instruments as well as my own Cello samples, that I recorded a couple of weeks ago with my friend Yasufumi.
For the Songwriting Assignment I handed in a slightly different version than the one I uploaded on Myspace and Soundclick, because the song was now allowed to be longer than 4 minutes. After cutting out a Cello part I managed to get the song exactly 3:58 minutes, but I really liked the part that I cut out for this purpose and so I made a different version for Myspace and Soundclick.

"Never Ending Story"
Words/Music written by David Nathanael Neuffer
Verse 1:
Are you ready for the game,
That is driving you insane?
Can you go through all the pain
Are you able to maintain
When you hear all their lies,
When you hear all the cries
When you see people die
Not understanding why
There is war outside almost everywhere you go
There is war inside your mind and you have to say no.
You can’t look through the walls they build up
But you have to carry on and not to give up.
Can you stand for your life?
Can you solve the strife?
Fight without a knife
Trying not to dive
Hook:
Never ending story
The battles keeps going on
Nobody cares for your worry
It seems that you are always wrong
You watch the sky in evening
And you see the sunrise too
You get some space for breathing
And you feel you know what to do
Verse 2:
You see some friends f*** ing up
Going down by drugs
Hanging around
Getting pushed to the ground
Some of them end up in jail
And others just fail
You have to hit the nail
Move out of the hail
Wright your own tale
Don’t put your life up for sale
Cause you’re the one who must decide
What is wrong and what is right
You will have a sleepless night
Until you went through a fight
But the light will reappear in morning
And without any warning
You jump out of bead
And your mind will be free from all the regret
[Hook]
Bridge:
Get free from mental slavery
Don’t be tempted to criminal behaviour
[Duration: 04:19]
