I few days before Christmas (2006), I was fiddling around on the keyboard and my emotions began to come out in the form of this melody. I just wanted to somehow explain to my wife how much she meant to me. That past year we had gotten out of the military and decided to take a leap of faith into the great unknown and leave the life that we had known for 6 years. Although there were no tangible promises of a successful career, Michelle still supported me in this decision and stood by my side the whole way. Our plan was to just give it our best and let God guide us toward our next phase in life. Well, we made it through this big transition and now we are so thankful. This song defines an evening at Christmas when all I wanted to do is just hold my wife, give her a moment of true rest and tell her how much I love her. She listened to this on Christmas morning 2006 as one of her gifts from me.
We made it through a trying year
From far away we traveled here
Fear tried to strike, but didn’t succeed
When I was weak you lifted me
When anger rose you helped me see
Beyond all the doubt that troubled me
Tip-toe with me through the living room
Follow my voice as I say this to you
[chorus]
Merry Christmas, my love
Come to me, baby
Find peace in my arms
Merry Christmas, my love
Please come be near me
For this moment just rest in my arms
The lights are low, emotions high
Lets step outside to watch the sky
My happiest times are when I’m with you
And now we stand as one in God
To thank Him for His precious son
He sent to this world for you and me
Tip-toe with me to the living room
Follow this love that is calling out to you
[repeat chorus]
