Been walkin’ down this gruelsome road
With what seems to be a forever, heavy load
I smile at a few passersby
Then I say hi-de-hi-hi
Have mercy
Have mercy
Have mercy
Have mercy on my ancient soul
We used to share/ my bank account got weaker
I had to wear an everyday sneaker
But was it fair I asked her later
She said, “later gator” & now I hate her
I’ve been a victim of her tricks
Yeah, I saw her doin’ her aerobics
On the bed that used to be mine
Now it’s hers with everybody waitin’ in line
I nursed my wound with substance that would numb me
And everybody said I was a dummy
Now I agree/ what took me so long
The monkey on my back was like King Kong
So one day I made up my mind
To fix myself/ don’t mean the dopin’ kind
And go back to something less perverse
Like singing me a tune/ writin’ another verse
The infidel said “this stuffs addicting”
But what the hell/ I know I am convincing
But it’s hard to sell there’s no money in it…ha
Least not now/ too many critics
