I orginally heard this song when I was about 12 years old. It was the "B" Side to Ian & Sylvia's 1967 single, "Lovin' Sound". I was so blown away with the lyrics that I learned how to play the song immediately and added it to my setlist when I set out on the local coffeehouse circuit at age 16. It's become somewhat of a signature song over the years. As I was preparing to record "In My Travels..." in 2002, I had the honor of speaking with the song's author, David Rey who wished me luck with it and pretty much gave me his blessing to use it. I consider it one of the great moments in my career.
