Acoustic guitar ballad about doing good deeds. Based on a true story.
My friend Mike did the plans for my garage/studio for free and told me to pay it forward which I got the chance to do when a lady came to my truck asking for help to get home. I gave her like $80, then the idea for the song came to me!
I was talking to an architect friend
We were working on some building plans
He was doing them as a favor to me
I said Id really like to pay you for these
He said I dont mind its just a breeze
You can pay it forward when you get the chance.
What do you mean by paying it forward, Ive never heard of that? Paying it forward it doing good deeds and its better than paying back
Pay it forward, to someone in the future in need of it
Pay it forward, to someone whos asking you to help them out
Dont worry about paying me back for this
Just pass it on in an act of kindness.
It was only the next day I was at a truck stop
When a woman approached me in need of some help
She was sleeping in her car and her father wasnt well
They were trying to get home and they were out of funds
They had a friend in Flagstaff who would lend em some
They just needed to get there and some food
How could I turn em away I thought when Hes been so good to me
Its time I thought to pay the price for the blessings I receive
